Save A Lot: Reviews & Ratings

First of all, this place is awesome because it's open 24 hours a day during the week. This in and of itself earns it a few stars--nothing's worse than realizing I need food for lunch at 11:00PM or so at night and thinking that I'm going to have to wait in the super-long lines at Wal-Mart for one or two items! Over on the east side, the nearest 24 hour grocery store was a 15 minute drive away. Save-A-Lot is right down the street from me! Unfortunately, finding those one or two items at Save-A-Lot sometimes can be a challenge. Maybe I just haven't been here enough, but sometimes I have trouble finding some items that I need, which is especially frustrating considering discount stores like this don't always carry everything. I still don't know where the snack food is kept. Probably better for my waistline, I suppose! In all fairness, though, I'm able to find what I need 90% of the time, and if I didn't subconsciously fulfill the traditional male stereotype and fail to ask for directions to stuff, I'm sure I could find everything! The prices here are pretty good--not as cheap as Aldi's (I have no idea how they make a profit!), but definitely much better than Dave's or Giant Eagle. I like the fact that they charge people for bags...if people aren't going to adopt "green" habits, make them pay! Haha! I'll probably eat my words when I go there without my reusable bags and a ton of items. Whether it's fueled by profit or environmentalism, I am glad that I don't leave Save-A-Lot with 15 items in 14 plastic bags, which most major grocery stores love to do. All in all, Save-A-Lot is a good place to have in the neighborhood. It doesn't have exotic items that we need from time to time, but it's got the bare necessities of life, and it's got them at great prices!
